Introducing 25 Cent

By Tim on Monday, November 26th, 2007

Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving. In case you missed it, the crew from Fast Lane Daily posted a very special Thanksgiving episode starring Derek DeAngelis, our longtime host. FLD takes their beef with 50 Cent to the next level and newly minted hiphop star 25 Cent gives you a little tour of Next New Networks HQ while he’s at it. Embedded below…

Oksana

There’s really nothing more to be said. Olympic Gold Medalist Oksana Baiul hosted Fast Lane Daily today.

Here are some behind the scenes photos for more proof. And with that, we’re out for the week. Enjoy!

Fast Lane Daily reaches 100!

By Tim on Monday, June 25th, 2007

(cross-posted from the Next New Networks Facebook group — join us there)

If you’re not watching Fast Lane Daily (say, maybe you don’t have a car, or an obsession with things shiny and fast), today’s episode is a great sample. Gene Sanchez, who produces the show every day (along with VOD Cars), hosts today’s episode — our 100th — and has a fun roundup of car news, including some exclusive footage from Ferrari’s 60th anniversary party in Italy, a bulletproof Rolls-Royce, and a little surprise at the end of the episode, especially for regular viewers of the show.

It’s pretty cool to have seen the team come together into a tight, well-oiled machine that puts this show out every day from our little studio on the 10th floor — they have the script ready by 9, shoot by 11, and post the episode by noon — and they’ve built up a sizable audience and some nice buzz in the car world in just three months. We celebrated today with a car-shaped cake at our monthly all-staff meeting, and hopefully someone will email me a picture to put here on the blog.

Congrats to our team on 100 episodes — we’re really happy with where FLD is going, and can’t wait to see what they do next.

Next stop: MARANELLO!

By Emil on Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Some of you may recall, several weeks ago a few of us participated in the NY to DC “Ferrari Relay” The event was run from Tavern on the Green in New York City to the Italian Embassy in Washington DC. The drive and reception at the embassy were part of Ferrari’s global celebration celebrating their 60th Anniversary.

Pics from the Relay are on my Flickr.

…as well as the Ferrari Owner and Ferrari World sites.

That night at the embassy, they announced that the 60th Anniversary Celebration will come to a close the weekend of June 22nd. At the factory. In Maranello.

When they made the announcement, I really wanted to go. Badly. Unfortunately, I was not on the guest list.

Until…

I got a call from Chris Miele at Ferrari of Central New Jersey. “Hey, you gonna go to the 60th Finale in Maranello?”

16-Digits later, I’m clearing calendars and packing bags.

Next stop… Bologna.

Behind the Scenes with Fast Lane Daily

By Ian Jenkins on Monday, June 4th, 2007

Fast. Fresh. Every day. That’s been the Fast Lane Daily promise thus far, and there’s a reason for it. Sure, robots may seem like the likely answer, but that is far from the truth… well, sort of. The N-Bot may have something to do with it, but not completely. The Fast Lane Daily production team is composed of a group of highly dedicated individuals who put forth great effort.

Random Cast & Crew Shot

Over the past few days, and at a few select events such as our week live at the NY International Auto Show, I have been taking some behind the scenes photographs of the team, and slowly compiling them within a flickr account. Here are some of those photographs, with no specific emphasis on anything in particular. Hopefully the following will give you more personal feel for the team, the effort, and the product we create.

Digital Magic (or 3 for the price of 1)

By Alan on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Auto experts Mike Spinelli and Alex Roy engaged in a very lively conversation on today’s edition of Fast Lane Daily. In our very dedicated way of making the best show we can, we’re often pulling rabbits out of the production hat. Today our editor Ian Jenkins employed a little digital magic when putting together the show.

We shot Mike and Alex with our HDV camera at a 1081i setting (hi-def). Ian was able to create a 3-camera effect by digitally manipulating close-ups of both Mike and Alex, intercut with the master shot. Nice job, Ian.

Gene Sanchez
Gene Sanchez was one of our earliest team members, brought in by Emil to spell him on the writing, editing and producing of VOD Cars. After the forming of NNN slowed down delivery a bit, Gene got us back up the horses and built our community right back up.

He’s a quiet guy that digs in and does his great work without a lot of fuss, but we were able to dig this bio out of him:

“My favorite job, other than NNN, was working for the Geek Squad.

“Just found out recently I live in the house Emil’s grandparents once lived in.

“I have one tattoo.

“Hate the water but love to jet ski.

“Majored in physics in college.

“Mets fan.” (Herb approves.) (more…)

Goin’ Racin’

By Emil on Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Friday we’ll be racing. I got this gadget in the race car called a Traqmate. It’s a GPS enabled data logger that records your “drive” for analysis. Throttle position. Acceleration. Deceleration. Lateral G-Forces. Steering angle. Everything.

It’s a great gadget, but there’s not community. I mean, how great would it be to take all the data from all the drivers around the web, lay that out around track maps… maybe Google maps… and then tie that to video of the events. Hmm…

ian

Currently editing Fast Lane Daily, Ian Jenkins is an all around filmmaker who credits skateboard films and Peter Jackson (and lots of others) as his inspirations. He’s certainly an enthusiastic participant in everything NNN.

We’ve got two bios of Ian:

“Long Bio:

“It all began at the tender age of 13. (more…)
