Gregory Gallant of Venture Voice.
By Fred.So I took the subway over to a great start-up space in Dumbo last week to be interviewed by Gregory Gallant, one half of Venture Voice, and, as I was to find out, podcasting rep firm RadioTail. VV’s subject is entrepreneurship and my first question to Greg was whether he was interviewing Fred the cartoon producer or Fred the Next New Networks guy? Turns out it was a little of both; he wasn’t quite sure since he didn’t know anything yet about NNN (and it was a good chance to tell him and his listeners about us) and it was more because he knew about our hit cartoon video podcast, Channel Frederator.
I like guys like these doing their own thing, especially after they’ve had the cushy experience of big media (in the VV guys cases CNN.com and ComedyCentral.com). I’ve worked both sides of the street myself and am here to tell you it’s easy to get seduced by the power of established media, heat that works, and a weekly check.
If you care, I’ll let you know when my episode runs.
Checking through the VV blog I see the latest entry is about Greg’s metaphor between entrepreneurship and jazz, a subject we didn’t discuss, though I would have enjoyed it. (I started my professional career producing jazz records for quite a few years.)
And I’m hoping he’ll come by the office soon and tell us a little about RadioTail. You never know…
